I glance out the door
and see the body of a blue jay
scattered on the stones.
At first - not wanting to look.
Then carrying the pieces into the studio
and silently attending with my eyes -
connected to my hand -
touching brush and paint and paper . . .
Oh Barbara, I am so moved by this in total -- the accomplishment of your art with the message. Incredible.

As I settle into my NYC train ride and read your blog, I feel my deepening connection to my tender, broken heart of sadness. At the same time I feel joy, beauty, love and the richness of the full cycle of life and death. Thank-you for LOOKING. Your courage helps me to look at that which I want to turn away from and connect to my warrior heart.

There's a really good supply of death, and after it has occurred suffering is over. Courage and creativity move us on.
